Staff News & Updates

Introduction.  John Melcher- John comes with a family background in ministry. His grandparents have been here and shared their talents in the past until the Lord called his grandfather home. John has been through the summer camp program and spent the last two summers here on staff. his enthusiasm is contagious and he is a great riding instructor. He completed his level two certification last year and is now working on the next level.

New Dining Hall in service!

The New Dining has been a great addition to our facilities last spring and summer. We’ve had a dedication dinner, several meetings, a graduation party, a wedding and now we are serving our summer campers all in this fantastic new structure. If you haven’t been out to see it since the interior decorator came through you owe it to yourself to come on out! If you are looking for a special place to host meetings or a catered event for 60-80 we’d be happy to help you with your event.

How do I become a certified trail guide?

Love the Lord? Love horses and people? Then you have the most important qualifications down! Previous horse experience is preferred, but we can also teach you all you need to know. Come out and volunteer/participate during a weekend horsemanship camp to “learn the ropes” of the stables at Faith Ranch. Your experience will determine how long a training period you will need. When you are ready, we will put you through a CCHI certification clinic here at Faith Ranch to gain certification as a Trail Guide and/or Riding Instructor.

J.E.T.—S.E.T. Program Begins!

Our first season of JET-SET camp was a big hit! The campers and staff had a great time with the horses as well as other camp activities. In addition to the regular riding program, JET-SET participants also spent time learning to care for their horse’s hooves. Use of hoof nippers and rasp were demonstrated and campers had a chance to try them out. (those hooves are TOUGH) We also had a “visible” horse model for hands-on putting a horse skeleton together. The comment was made that “this was the most fun barn class I’ve ever had!” Since they were the first group of JET SET campers they got to name the first foal from our new spotted draft stallion.. They chose to name the colt, appropriately, Genesis, which means beginnings.

SPOT LIGHT ON THE STABLES

Its happening! The lower stable area has been expanded and the upper stables is being replaced. One section at a time the work is getting done. Funds were raised during last year’s RIDE A THON to help finance this project. Many volunteers have labored to make these improvements. We are so grateful to all the folks who have worked to make this happen. When it is fully completed, all the ponies and horses will have a place to stand under a roof, and the extra tack and harnesses will have a room to hang out in while not being used. We are very excited to see this project coming to completion!

2007 Ride-A-Thon

Win Your Very Own Foal!

Want to own a Faith Ranch horse? Do you like to ride spend the day with friends, and enjoy God’s creation? Sign up for our annual Ride a thon! On September 1 you have your big chance to have fun, help the ministry of Faith Ranch, and possibly win a foal. Riders will spend about 6 hours in the saddle and come back to a Faith Ranch dinner where awards will be presented. There are two divisions, youth and adult. Each division must have at least 6 participants for a foal to be awarded in that division, and participants must have a minimum of $150.00 in sponsorship to ride and a minimum of $350.00 in pledges to be eligible for prizes. Forms are available on our web site or contact the office for more information. At this time we  are expecting about 14 foals. We will use them in the camp program to help the campers learn about God’s love, trust, obedience, and many other Biblical principles.
